THE LOCATION
Fly in, north of the tree line, to an angler's heaven,
and leave the world behind. This Lodge is a world-class
fly-in fishing camp, surrounded by hundreds of miles of
untouched, unpolluted tundra, with its countless
crystal-clear lakes and rivers. The main fly-in fishing
camp along with three fly-in fishing camps is situated
in the Northwest Territories.
The guests can choose to explore five different sets of
rapids, located just a half-hour boat ride from the main
camp. As grayling prefer unpolluted waters that are
clear, cold and well oxygenated, these rapids produce
some of the very best grayling fishing found anywhere in
the Arctic. Arctic grayling flash through these miles of
fast water streams and sparkling rapids of the river
chain, providing an unsurpassed challenge for the angler
using light tackle.
The guests of the lodge will touch down on the cold
crystal waters of the main Lake in Canada's Northwest
Territories. This fly-in lake, which is approximately 25
miles long by 20 miles wide, is a world-class fishing
destination with numerous trophies caught every day.
They will be able to fish for trout in shallow waters,
10 to 20 feet deep, all summer.
THE FISHING
If the guests are looking for trophy lake trout fishing,
they need look no further than Canada's Arctic. These
lakes are known among anglers as the lake trout capital
of the world. The lake trout range from 10 to 50 pounds,
and visitors to the Lodge catch and release an average
of 40 fish per day. A 61-pound trophy is the largest
lake trout taken to date. Not only do the guests get
excellent fishing, but during the flight in they might
even spot some migrating caribou or some muskox
Once only known to the native Inuit and a handful of
bush pilots looking for the best trout and grayling
fishing, we continue to ensure an extremely low fishing
pressure by permitting no more than approximately 100
people per year to fly in to the lodge & outposts. These
lakes have been designated "trophy fishing only", so
this is a catch and release lake.
Guests can fly fish along the rapids with waders or just
fly fish out of the boat as the guide anchors the boat
on top or below the rapids. Average catch of grayling
with a fly rod is 20 to 30 grayling between 2 to 5 lbs
in one half-day of fishing. Grayling and lake trout
fishing can be found in the rivers all through July and
August.
THE EQUIPMENT
Guests use 16 and 18-foot Alumarine boats with 25 HP
Honda motors. The lodge also has Zodiacs with 15 hp
motors for a thrilling 3 to 4 day, 100-mile trip float,
fishing, and camping trip from the main Lake to the
outpost lake on the river chain.
